Twitter to Stop 140-Character Limit in Photos and Links

Twitter is about to stop counting pictures and links in the limit, allowing for more words in tweets .Shortly, you will be able to tweet a photo or link without it counting against your 140-character count. The change is expected to happen to the social media site within the next two weeks, according to Bloomberg.

Someone "familiar with the matter" told Bloomberg that Twitter is planning to make the change in as soon as two weeks. However, nothing has been officially confirmed by the company.

URL links, including ones to images, currently take 23 characters off a tweet's character count. There were rumours earlier this year that Twitter was considering allowing tweets up to 10,000 in characters. But Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey refused the rumour in March saying that the 140 character limit is staying.
