Facebook Updates Messenger with Diverse Emojis

Facebook has enriched its Messenger app with more diverse set of emojis on the Web, iOS and Android. The Company said the new emoji was introduced to do a better job with gender. “We are diversifying the genders to create a more balanced mix that’s more representative of our world. Now, using Messenger emojis, you will see a female police officer, runner, pedestrian, surfer and swimmer for the very first time, and we will keep rolling these out”, Facebook states.
What you might find most interesting is the support for skin tone selection. Facebook Messenger now lets you set the skin colour you prefer your default emojis to be. You can also change your skin tone anytime in the settings or do a long press on any emoji to toggle the skin tone.
Additional feature is the roll-out of the placement of emojis within the app, which on the Web app before now was buried behind.
